In Belgium there are many services and professionals that can help you if you need information about health, if you have a health problem or if you are in an emergency situation.
Divorce
Sexual orientation
Belgian law forbids discrimination because of sexual orientation. For example: for work, leisure, education, services, housing.
HIV status
Belgian law forbids any discrimination based on health status. This means a person with HIV has to be treated like any other person.
Forced prostitution and human trafficking
Prostitution or sex work means offering sex in exchange for money or other advantages.
When people are lured into prostitution with false promises of a better future in another country, this is called human trafficking.
Pornography
In Belgium, it is permitted under certain conditions to watch, buy or produce pornography. However, there is severe punishment for watching, possessing, producing or distributing images of child abuse (child pornography).
Prostitution / sex work
Prostitution or sex work means offering sex in exchange for money or other advantages. There is a difference between sex workers who voluntarily choose to engage in sex work and victims of human trafficking who are forced into prostitution.
Indecent assault and rape
Indecent assault is any forced sexual act without penetration and is described in the criminal code as any violation of sexual integrity. The victim does not give consent to this act.
Sex at a young age
Belgium has a law to protect young people from engaging in sexual intercourse when they are too young to make a proper decision. This is the law on the age of consent.
