Infectie in de vagina, veroorzaakt door een schimmel. De zuurtegraad die de vagina beschermt tegen schimmels is verstoord. Candida geeft witte afscheiding, jeuk en roodheid. Candida kan genezen met medicijnen, een crème of vaginale pil (soort tablet die oplost in de vagina). Candida is geen seksueel overdraagbare aandoening (soa).

Infection in the vagina, caused by a fungus. The acidity balance that protects the vagina against the fungus is disturbed. Candida causes a white vaginal discharge, itching and redness. Candida can be cured with medicines, a cream or a vaginal pessary (a kind of tablet which dissolves in the vagina). Candida is not a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
